Facial oil serums are having a moment, and for good reason! These luxurious blends of natural oils are a great way to hydrate, nourish, and protect your skin.

Some key benefits of using a facial oil serum:

  1. Hydration: Unlike water-based moisturizers, which can evaporate quickly and leave your skin feeling dry, facial oil serums lock in moisture and keep your skin hydrated throughout the day.
  2. Nourishment: Many facial oil serums contain powerful antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that can help to nourish and protect your skin from damage.
  3. Anti-Aging: Some oils, such as rosehip and sea buckthorn, are known for their ability to stimulate collagen production and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  4. Customization: With so many different types of oils available, you can customize your facial oil serum to address your specific skin concerns. For example, you might choose jojoba oil for its balancing properties or carrot seed oil for its ability to soothe and heal.

Tips for Applying Facial Serums Effectively

To make the most of the powerful benefits of facial serums, it’s essential to apply them correctly. Follow these expert tips to ensure your skin reaps the full rewards:

  1. Cleanse and Tone: Before applying the serum, cleanse your face thoroughly to remove any impurities or makeup. Follow up with a gentle toner to prep your skin for optimal absorption.
  2. Warm It Up: Warm a few drops of the serum between your palms. This helps to activate the ingredients and enhances absorption into your skin.
  3. Gentle Application: Lightly pat the serum onto your face and neck with your fingertips. Avoid tugging or rubbing, as the delicate skin in these areas requires gentle care.
  4. Start from the Thinnest Areas: Begin applying the serum from your thinnest skin areas, such as around the eyes and lips, moving towards the rest of your face.
  5. Don’t Forget Your Neck: Extend the application down to your neck and décolletage, as these areas can also benefit from the nourishing properties of the serum.
  6. Allow Absorption: Give the serum a few minutes to absorb into your skin before applying additional skincare products. This helps to maximize its effectiveness.
  7. Follow with Moisturizer: For added hydration and protection, follow up with your favorite moisturizer after the serum has been fully absorbed.
  8. Morning and Night: Use your facial serum both in the morning and evening for round-the-clock benefits and glowing results.

Remember, a little goes a long way with facial serums. Start with a small amount and adjust based on your skin’s needs. Consistency is key to unlocking the radiant skin benefits of these potent elixirs.

Facial Oil Serums Aren’t Just For Your Face

Here are some other ways you can use these versatile blends:

  1. Hair: Apply a few drops of your facial oil serum to the ends of your hair to add shine and hydration.
  2. Body: Use your facial oil serum as a body oil to hydrate and nourish your skin from head to toe.
  3. Cuticles: Rub a drop of your facial oil serum into your cuticles to soften and nourish them.

Instructions

Create oil blend in jar:

  • Gather all ingredients, including a 2 oz glass bottle and a scale
  • Add carrier oils to the bottle
  • Carefully add drops of each essential oil to the bottle
  • Close the bottle and shake vigorously for 10-20 seconds
  • Repeat step 4 until it looks like the oils have incorporated

Use the oil to moisturize your face:

  • After cleansing your face, use any toners or serums first before applying this oil
  • To increase absorption and make applying easier, add a spritz of hydrosol or a pearl sized amount of hyaluronic acid serum to either your face or the palm of your hand (or use damp hands)
  • Use a dropper or pour a dime size amount of the oil serum in the palm of your hand
  • Gently apply the oil to your face and neck (any leftover can be used for the back or your hands or knees and elbows)
  • Spritz your face and neck with a hydrosol or mineral water facial spray to finish
  • Let the oil soak in for about 5 minutes before applying any make-up or sunscreen

Notes

This blend should last a few months if used daily
This serum can be used both in the morning and at night
Add a small amount of the serum to your hair ends to smooth and create a glossy finish
Use an amber glass bottle to lengthen the shelf life of your oils — amber glass protects against light and UV rays
