Are you tired of harsh chemical cleansers that leave your skin feeling stripped, irritated or dry? If so, it’s time to try the oil cleansing method for glowing skin. This gentle cleansing technique uses natural oils to dissolve dirt, makeup, and impurities, leaving your skin soft, smooth, and glowing.

Busting the Myth: Oil as a Skin Savior

We know — oil on your face?? Some people may cringe at the thought of cleaning with oil. Many beauty brands want us to believe that oil is our enemy and we should destroy all oiliness from our skin. Here’s the deal: oil attracts oil; meaning — oil is going to draw other oils and dirt into its orbit. When you use oil to cleanse your face you are essentially using it as a magnet to capture oil and dirt. So when you wipe off the cleansing oil — goodbye dirt and excess oil build-up that was on your face! Cool, huh?

The Power of Jojoba & Natural Sebum

The other great thing about the oil cleansing method is that oils like Jojoba mimic the natural sebum of your skin. Natural oils should not irritate your skin like certain chemicals you may find in store-bought products. After you finish cleansing with oil, not only will you be left with a subtle glow but the oil also creates a natural protectant for your skin.

So why not give the oil cleansing method a try? Your skin will thank you for it!

How to Perform the Oil Cleansing Method

Step 1: Choose your oils

For this cleansing recipe, you’ll need castor oil, jojoba oil, and your favorite essential oils. Castor oil is great for deep cleansing and removing impurities, while jojoba oil is moisturizing and nourishing for the skin. Essential oils can provide additional benefits such as calming or uplifting effects.

Step 2: Mix your oils

Mix together 1 tablespoon of castor oil and 2 tablespoons of jojoba oil in a small bottle. Add 3-4 drops of your chosen essential oils, such as lavender or tea tree oil, for added benefits.

Step 3: Massage the oil onto your face

Apply a small amount of the oil mixture onto your face, and massage gently for about a minute. The oil will dissolve and loosen dirt, makeup, and impurities, leaving your skin feeling soft and supple.

Step 4: Optional: Steam your face

To open up your pores and help the oil penetrate deeply into your skin, place a warm, damp washcloth over your face for a few minutes. This will also help to remove any excess oil and impurities.

Step 5: Rinse and pat dry

Rinse your face with warm water, and pat dry with a clean towel.

Step 6: Optional: Repeat as needed

If you need a deep cleanse or to remove make-up, Repeat step 3 & 5.

Your skin should feel soft, smooth, and hydrated. If you have been using store-bought products, give your skin a period to adjust to the new method.
